Getting Arboreal # 2 in the Breeze

Today is November 8, 2009, and Julie over at The Land of Lost Luggage, in her Arboreal project, has asked us to revisit our tree -- you met mine for the first time on August 27.

If you remember, when you first spied her, she showed off her beautiful green and lush foliage. She blushed when you talked to her. She giggled when you took her photo. Today she has changed her clothes to go with the beauty of the fall. Her spring green is turning to the golden dusty warm browns of the fall in anticipation of the upcoming Thanksgiving season.

Remember what she looked like last August? Surely you do. Well, in case you can't recall, here she is the way she was:

Yes, the squirrels still love to climb and play on her limbs and jump from her boughs to the ledge outside my abode. Oh, yes, all the neighborhood dogs still love to sniff and help water her. In other words, she is loved by all....... and why shouldn't the girl be loved....

Today she is dropping her leaves in anticipation of the coming winter time. A time when she will take a nap and wake another morn when spring is near.

She's a beauty in all her colors. I call her mine and caught her one morning with rain drops kissing her leaves.

So in closing this post, I want to share with you the "Prayer of the Woods,"

"I am the heat of your hearth on the cold winter nights, the friendly shade screening you from the summer sun, and my fruits are refreshing draughts quenching your thirst as you journey on.

"I am the beam that holds your house, the board of your table, the bed on which you lie, and the timber that builds your boat.

"I am the handle of your hoe, the door of your homestead, the wood of your cradle, and the shell of your coffin.

"I am the bread of kindness and the flower of beauty. 'Ye who pass by, listen to my prayer: Harm me not.'"

Love the contrast of your tree over the two time periods. Amazing how the same tree can look so different. Love the kiss!
