The Day After

The Christmas Day was wonderful. Meals with friends, laughter, and gratitude.

Today it is has been raining, snowing, sleeting, raining, sleeting, and still coming down in the form of light rain. I went so far as to cancel my boxing just because I have become a weather yucky wimp when it gets dark and I have to drive in conditions I am not totally convinced are not slippy sliddy .. you know the kind of weather I'm talking about? It is the yuckiest. Neither here nor there .....

Back to yesterday -- Had a wonderful Xmas breakfast with cranberry muffins to start the day. Then proceeded to making wicked mashed potatoes for late lunch.

And finished the day by watching the Dr. Who marathon on BBC America. Have two shows on the DVR which I need to watch. I ran into the office today and got last minute items ready for my travel on January 2nd to San Antonio for a board meeting. I so love love love that city!

Stay warm.... I need to create some art so I will disappear and show up later on.  Blessings!

And All through the House

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse! Well maybe - you never know on Christmas Eve. One of the most magical nights of the year. Merry Christmas to you with love from Harley, the Rat, and me. Hugs to all and to all a Good Night.

Pray Flag for Newtown, CT

Today at 9:30am EST I will observe a moment of silence for all 26
souls who so tragically died in Newtown last Friday. I have made my prayer flag to send off to Leighanna Light in New Mexico who has organized a project to send the prayer flags to the town of Newtown.  Let us remember those beautiful souls lost and always remember - tell those you love how much you love them. We never know what the next minute holds.
Hugs and Love sent to all my Honeysuckle Breeze Peeps

How to Clean a Table

Guess what I am doing on my Christmas Vacation - the short version for today....

See craft table. Problem - no work space? You think?

Dump all stuff off of craft table -- weeeeeeeeee rock!

Back to reality -- Review stuff and then Organize

Time for lunch yet?  OK, I know I am not fooling you and yes, all the stuff is still on the floor.  So excuse me while my job to tackle today is one blob of stuff on floor.  A little bit at a time and also waiting on book from Amazon, "Shed you Stuff" -- Sure, I think that is like shedding the hair over your lip - it keeps coming back.  OK - lunch and will check in later, peeps.  PS - need my creative space back since I want to join in the "Hope Flag Project" organized by Leighanna Light out of New Mexico. Stay warm and if you are where the snow is blowing - you are lucky.  Would like a snow day here in Northern Virginia.  Details for this project exists on Facebook.

The events of the last few days brings into our reality how one single act can change so many lives. I finally had to turn off the TV watching the sadness of this horrific act upon the innocents.  We must remember in our aching hearts that these children and teachers who died at the hands of evil are now being cradled in the arms of  angels. May we pray for those left behind that in some small way they will receive comfort from those who are caring for them right now. There are no words that can convey what they are going through right now. Yes, it turns our hearts upside down to even imagine if we were in their shoes. May there be peace on earth in this time of sorrow. Christmas is just around the corner and the joy surrounding this season and the birth of our Christ will be celebrated around the world. Within this celebration is to know that life does not end at death - we are carried by our guardian angels to a place where we know peace for evermore in the love of our Heavenly Father. Amen.

12-12-12

Yup - why not emerge on the last day of the sequence number dates we will have until 2101. Gonna miss these dates - they have been fun.

The Holidays are fast approaching. Don't have a clue where this year has gone. I am still creating art, working out, playing tennis, cardio boxing and enjoying life. Today I wanted to do a quick post to wish you happy. 12-12-12. Oliver is coming over on Saturday for a play date. How cool is that? Hugs

Oliver's Vacation

Or what I did at Auntie Marlynn's Bath & Spa. Yes, the pup showed up yesterday we have had a busy day so far and both are taking a break. I have been creating the last week and a few are below. Only thing I wish for this IPhone app it would let you intersperse photos through out the post. But it won't - they all are loaded below the post. But you can figure out the art journaling pages versus those of Oliver. ROFL!

When is Too Much Too Much?

It is time now to seriously, like seriously tackle the craft room I have been whining about for years.  And I mean tackle.  I have a number of things organized in my life and this is the last vestige of total chaos.

SO, what I am thinking about - yes, I am using you as a sounding board.  I'm thinking I should just pack everything up as if I were going to move.  Over the years since 1998 my art has changed.  We have gone from scrapbooking, to stamping, to making cards, to altered books, to mixed media.

I have tools that are never used anymore. What to do with all of it? Good question and one I need to ponder. Maybe will pack and give to a local stamp store, Angela's Happy Stamper, for her to donate to worthy causes.

Anyway, just had to get this off my chest because I am going to take this step and it will be a little drastic and interesting to see where I stop. I have seriously considered packing it ALL up and starting all over.

What started this was my note from The Universe:

"Sometimes, Marlynn, if the direction you're about to move feels 'right' in your head and heart, yet the first few steps look pretty daunting, no fun, and maybe even scary, you should take those first few steps anyway and get 'em over with.
"And I'm not just saying that because watching you in action gives me goose bumps.
     "Oh.... behave,
            "The Universe."

Me and the Harl will keep you posted, peeps.  Enjoy the weekend.

Beware -- Inner Child Runs Amok

"You can always change how you feel, Marlynn, and you can always feel whatever you like.

Don't you remember? You bought the upgraded "Superior-Deluxe, Double-Plus-Good Time-Space Package," and a side order of "chocolate mousse," if I recall.

Smooth -
    The Universe"

Good Morning Universe. Yes, my day is flowing and I am getting a lot accomplished at work which always make me happy and calm.  Wanted to do a quick post at lunch, from the office so to speak, to share with you a piece of art I added to my little ATC-size journal.

It does not look like my art work. But it is mine. I swear that sneaky pesky little inner-child burst out the minute she saw those Crayola Paint Brush Pens. OMG

Yup, primary colors.  Hope your day is "superior-deluxe, double-plus-good" and welcome to my "rose" explosion color world today and my view out my window.

Top 10 Signs

Happy Sunday my Honeysuckle Breeze Peeps.......  Loved one of my notes from The Universe this week:

Marlynn, the top 10 signs a really huge dream of yours is about to come true, are:

10. You regularly visualize the end result, the after-party, or beyond.
9. Every day you "show up," doing something about it.
8. You're not attached to how it will come true.
7. It really matters to you; you really care.
6. You know who the first 3 people are that you'll call with the news.
5. You're smiling and winking way more than normal.
4. Sometimes you speak and behave as if it already has.
3. It probably doesn't depend upon specific people.
2. You already know what your next goal is.
1. You keep whispering, "Sweet! Thank you! Yes!" with clutched fist.

Sweet! Thank you! Yes!
    The Universe
Did you just smile and wink, Marlynn? Good, keep on it.
The past week has flown by very quickly as has this weekend.  Love that the 2012 Olympics have begun and equally happy that Bravo is showing the tennis matches live everyday. Wanting Roger Federer to win his gold medal. Four years ago - he won silver and gold in doubles.

Went on a field trip to Michael's on Thursday and found some really cool goodies including Retro Candy.... oh my .... they also had some great new tissue tapes from Tim Holtz and yes, I bought!

Have been creating in my little ATC size travel art journal (4"x3" Pentalic Sketchbook).  Yesterday, I found an odd little show (after tennis was over on Bravo) on Science Network (thinking it is in the Discovery TV networks) called Dark Matters--Twisted But True. Sounds like my kind of show - and it was. Also was creating while it is on..... yup, it gets a little odd. LOL  Beginning with the new Tim Holtz tissue tape. This tape is so cool as a background on a page:

and then the after photo - using a transfer (Lesley Riley Tap Transfer Artist Paper) I brought back from Art and Soul in February from Lesley Riley's class.  Love her transfer paper - it is idiot proof which would me me!

and on the other side is the "back side" of my creation called "Send In the Clowns."  I am loving playing with this back side trying to keep the cool design that bled thru from the other page.  Also another new Tim Holtz tissue tape on the left hand side of the page:

and here is what started it all -  Send in the Clowns - that created the above "back side" page. It was the Sharpie outlines that did the bleeding:

And the final two pages this week was my salute to egg heads all over the world.  I am a "Big Bang" Fanatic. Love Leonard, Raj, Amy, Sheldon, Penny, Howard.... and on and on. Love them and will just keep watching the reruns.... This inspiration came from an old cook book I picked up off of Ebay a number of years ago.... Egg Salad....

And the opposite page features Egg Beet Salad.... along with some other friends....

Between my summer workouts (Wednesday and Friday), my cardio boxing (Tuesday), cardio tennis (Saturday), and some regular tennis on Sunday's, I am really so happy that I wanted to start creating again. It was a dry spell. You have a great week and I will see you next weekend - if not before, who knows!
