Not quite But almost..... or not

Got my "scrap" box finished today and feel good about it. Not even close to what I thought I was going to create - but I love it. From the magazine just a peak behind the brown bag where the spools of thread are - I don't feel comfortable showing the photo from the magazine:

You can get the flavor of her creation! Now mine:

Began the layering with the brown paper bag, added some tissue, image from french catalogue, flower cut from scrap book paper, Marie from clip art, Eiffel Tower wood cut die, red flowers, etc. Some aspects of it - this box is for scrap materials......

The French Lady and her trousseaux....

The Queen....
The inside covered with a file folder...

The scraps in the box...

All done........... have a serene evening. I'm going to watch "Pillars" which I recorded last night...

Inspiration in the Breeze

Here among the Honeysuckles in my Breezy easy world, the weather is cooler than it has been all week, the day is gorgeous, cardio tennis played this morning, and the tennis backhand strokes clinic accomplished....

So, what is this "inspiration" I speak of? Love it when I am open to it in my world. All I have to do is open my eyes and drink in the sights. . . like at Starbucks late yesterday afternoon after an hour of a tennis workout with a tennis bud and my trainer:

Or the wild turkey mom and chicks outside our office windows this week:

Or my Green Craft Magazine from Somerset Studio:

I swore I would not buy this magazine NOR would I LOVE it. Wrong on both counts! It is inspiring me IF I get off my booty and act on the inspiration. And, right now I am sitting on my boots blogging and waiting for Sunday noon to arrive in order to draw a name out of the hat for the Zentangle 2 book. Leave a comment on the last post (Sunday) if you would like to be included. Sorry, I digressed. Check out page 30 in my Green mag, Vanessa Spencer repurposed a box using a shopping bag from one of my fav stops, Trader Joes:

So this week I made a stop and got a bag. Before cardio tennis today, painted half the box so it would be dry and I could begin working on it....

Yes, you can barely see the RubyFloy stamp on the box I am using. Love her etsy shop and try to stay away! Got my iced coffee made in my new coffee machine......

OK, one more statement. The true inspiration for this box is Vanessa's buttons.....

Off to create - wish me luck boys and girls! Be back soon.

Giveaway in the Chaotic Breeze

Would you like this book? Well, you are more than welcome to leave a comment on this post letting me know that you would like me to pull your name out of the hat for this one. As I said yesterday, I don't like to do zentangles but if you do, more power to you. Patty over at Magpie's Nest is one absolutely incredible zentangler - check her doodle out by clicking here. Holy Schmoly - the girl can tangle! Anyway, have I told you I don't like to? Just let me know to add your name to the hat and you will have a chance at the drawing next Sunday, August 1.

It has been hot and muggy today and we did have one doozy of a rain storm today. Larcy made me go out with her to find a shower liner... yes, she made me - what part of "no" did she not hear when I answered her phone call? It was a beauty of a storm and she did find her shower liner for Phil's bathroom and I found a wonderful Tommy Hilfiger Twin Bed Set (only way I am going to get this bed cleaned off in this "chaotic" room):

Yes, I was standing inside the store taking the photos while everyone kept saying, do you think it is good idea to stand in front of that glass door to take photos? I explained I had a blog post to get ready for, HELLO.... humph! Once home, I pulled out my "Rider Tarot Deck" and selected a card. I felt like I needed to create something - not large - to describe a little part of my day. Sanded it down:

And came up with "Chaos" for today, June 25.....

Most of the items used were just smack dab near me. I want to keep the "image" part of the tarot cards fairly clean instead of covering the art work up:

Yes, I called "Chaos" my "Word of the Day" -- hmmmmm.... OK, boys and girls, if you would like a chance at the Zentangle 2 book, leave a comment letting me know you do. If you don't want it, you can still leave a comment and tell me "ain't no way I wanna zentangle with you" - that is "my" mantra and I'm sticking to it. Best of luck to you. Hugs to all and have a great evening!

Travel Journey Visited!

For your viewing pleasure this evening in the Honeysuckle Breeze, we have pulled out our trusty travel journal and added the Boston/Salem pages. It has been a hot and steamy day in the Washington, DC, area - as it has been in most places east of the Mississippi. I did manage to get through cardio tennis this morning for one hour. It was sweaty just standing around waiting to run onto the court. WOW. Hot, steamy, muggy and just down right hot. Larcy and I did some running around. She left Oliver pup at home since it was just too hot to take him with us.

When I returned home I decided I had to get the travel journal out. Started with my blank pages. Above is the left hand side after I added Black Gesso to the page to "muddy" and distress it. And then the finished page....

In Salem I "negotiated" with a shop owner for a used box of Tarot cards which I knew I wanted to use in art work. He was a little thrown off by my wanting a "used" and old set - but I explained I would not have to do that much distressing to them. That was fun.....

And now, my little kiddies, lets wander off to the right side I titled, "She only flies after dark . . when moon light falls...."

OK, I admit it -- I did get carried away with this side..... yes, I did....

One of my fav nuns and a rub-on of a dandelion! Why not.... The finished product for both layouts:

I have to admit something to you. If this post seems a little "quick" and to "the point" - it is .... I am upstairs and although the sun has gone down - It still gets mighty warm up here with the southwest exposure and sometimes, especially during the day, I don't like to come up here but can't really move this room downstairs to the living room where it is deliciously cool and nice TV... BUtttttt - OK, here I go off again..... I have to show you all the Swan Boat Harley, Betsy, and I rode on one lovely day in Boston. Is it not beautiful????

Harley fell in love....

Yes, Harley is just a little harley-about-town.... just a roust-about......

We can't forget my "odd hotel" Very odd

The Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers.... Room 935. Dead phone, crazy coffee maker, air conditioner (don't get me started)....... just down right odd. I swear there was something weird and eerie about the whole 9th floor. Trust me. Yes, I will have to do my own investigation online to see if there are any lurking stories out there on this hotel! Yes, I will.

Don't get me wrong - a fun time was had by all in a lovely city.....

Nighty, night boys and girls. Stay tuned tomorrow for a give away -- a book I bought BUT am not into zentangles...... OH NO, they tangle my brain and in my world, there is no zen in a zentangle! LOL

Back Home in the Honeysuckles

Hi, Harley here - Mom is at lunch and I wanted to do a quick post to let you all know we made it home safe and sound from Boston and Salem. It is SOoooooo good to be home among the honeysuckles - OK, it is hot and muggy here and we are sweaty - Buttttt, it is so good to sleep in your own bed.
There were times in our travels on the highways, byways, subways, that I truly hung on for dear life. But the busy life is the exciting life, as they say. Not sure who said it butttttt......

And then - BAM - the dreaded sign, who do they think they are? Well, that didn't stop my mistress and me traversing wherever we wanted until our little paws and feet were really tired and sore. And then we found...... a jewel in the hot and muggy Salem Breeze

Yes, we did dunk our Dunkins' in ice coffee, our way. My mistress will return soon - maybe tomorrow. Tonight she has to take her tired butt and feet and play tennis in the muggies and won't be home till late. OH my, work, tennis, work, tennis, and then hug a Harley. Perfect prescription for a perfect life. I will let her fill you in about the hotel from the Twilight Zone we stayed out. *shivers* Looks like Colorado's The Stanley Hotel to me, a.k.a The Shining by Stephen King! Butttt we were in Boston..... oh no *shivers* and more *shivers*

See you later........... Harley and

The Gleaner in the Breeze

Yup, I had to do it. I HAD to finish off the page next to the crazy doll head and the 1997 magazine ad. See yesterday's post for more details.

Could have been around 2005 or 2006 I bought a Zine and loved it. Within the last year or so, I have begun cutting it up and using it in art work. I was curious enough to see if it was still around, and, to my surprise it is. You can find The Gleaner Zine and Sherylynne Carriveau by clicking on this link. I may have to buy one in "full color" wooo hooo.

I added some "flowers" from a thank you card and outlined them in a black felt pen. I also took a felt tip pen and "colored" her leaves, flowers, and lips. She was all in black and white. I really ended up liking this page. Added a metal piece to the upper right hand corner of the frame.

Just wanted to get one more post in since we are packing for our upcoming trip to Boston and I need to get back to it. Harley just can't wait to get back to Salem where we visited in late October 2007.

Words escape me - Harley did get into this and truely felt he was the life of the party,

What can I say, just another crazy doll or some girl he picked up thinking he was the life of the party?........ Will miss you and will take plenty of photos to use on the blog and in my art work!
