Nellie the Nest Lady in the Honeysuckles

Nellie - the Nest Lady

A true Story - kind of.... Nellie was a Nest Lady born in 1997 in a land far away probably called Utah. Marilyn was an artist who lived in another far away land called somewhere on the east coast. She and Nellie lived together until Marilyn's art work took a different turn and she sent Nellie and her Nests packin' -- But then, as is so true in life, she wished that Nellie would find her way back home. But no, alas, Greedy People in a land called Ebay wanted too much money for a 97 Nellie.

Drum roll, please. In came one from the Honeysuckle Breeze who slays the ebayers with enthusiasm and Nellie came to her in no time flat. Don't mess with ebay slayer, dudes. She will slash your price and beat your bid and you won't know what hit. Last 30 seconds. BAM.

So she painted an ugly brown box

Put some 7 Gypsies tape around it

Stamped it,

Gathered Nellie and gave Nellie a new box (and also sent her original 97 box along with her),

Added a little ribbon for the old gal

and then the Hard Times Chili Boy took over. I love to make notepads out of old boxes of cereal, chili, hose, you name it, I will make it. Well, kind of, if you saw the closet and all those broken down boxes waiting for homes. I should just make them and then figure out what to do with them. LOL. Yes, it will come to me at some point. Chili boy had all sorts of pages added to him,

And now Hard Times is off in the box with Nellie. Yes, we all wish them a safe journey and now I need to go make some garlic bread because I am dining with Larcy, Phil, and pup Oliver. Couldn't be a better Sunday. And just one last request, say a thank you to all the slayers out there..... remember Buffy? the Vampire Slayer! Yes! we loved our Buffy and Cordelia and Faith and ...... Giles was to die for, that sexy British hunk..... OK, need to go put the garlic bread in the oven my little honeysuckle peeps....

Running in the Breeze thru the Honeysuckles

Hi, my Honeysuckle peeps. So sorry I checked in last Sunday and then checked out! The hours are clipping by and me and my work persona have a big meeting coming up next week. All deadlines are met, so far, and things are looking good. However, a few late nights and veggie in front of TV happened last week.....

Today, I swear I thought I would have more time, but alas, it hasn't worked out that way. I have trouble keeping up with me, what a sad tale..... To the left, boys and girls, is me at 7:30 am this morning. PRE-cardio tennis, then we had a tennis clinic on lobs, and then a few of us played 1 1/2 sets of tennis until 11:30 am. (You did fantastic Barbara! Yes, I know you are reading this!

My footsie's were and are now totally dead and I have to be on them next week. OMG. OK, I've calmed down. Me after tennis.

Oh my, see the rosy cheeks and sun brushed neck.... Drenched in sweaty clothes, hair wet and flat to my head. Hmmm, why do you think I was dumb enough to take this photo of me? Oh yeah, to show you all I am really really alive and still kind of kicking my feet.... on second thought, no, I am not kicking those little doggies just now.

OK, I did shower and ran (no drove) to Glory Days to have a late lunch. Ran to party store for pink bag and tissue and baby shower card.... leaving in a few for that party. AND, stopped at Starbucks for a wicked wonderful calorie-laden drink. And on that note my wonderful friends, I will show you a few pages from last week's workshop. I am still loving that workshop and I did find out that Jane Davies will be back at the Queen's Ink (Savage, Maryland) in November if any of you are interested in the details let me know. Would be so much fun to take a workshop with that artist and you all together..... woo hooo!

I do believe these butterflies were from Terri and the yellowed paper from Elizabeth..... Gonna be a great page to work on.... Some of you may recognize the image paper below. It is the one page I print in order to use in my Asian wax canvas art. The other is pattern tissue paper and the mermaid, one of my fav stamps, was stamped on an old book page and then not used in a piece I was working on.....

And of course, my favorite poison sticker, tea packet and my girl. Used her off and on over the years in different projects. Yes, she is always, in my world, and up to no good!

See:
I've been working a long time on an arch book called, Mama and her Girls - or Murder runs in the family. Got the quote from an old book, 'Bitter for so long, anger is my habit." I see a nun story here..... OH my, need to get back to that - could be my summer project! OK, need to run, however, I will be back tomorrow and will be checking all of your blogs. How many times did I use the word "run" - and my feet are killing me. Hmmm, there is a lesson here.... Oh well, hugs, until I visit with you tomorrow.

An Artful Collage Journey among the Honeysuckles

Harley and I had a ball at our workshop yesterday at The Queen's Ink in Savage, Maryland, with Jane Davies and our College Journey! What a fun fun fun artist!

This workshop focused on creating pages in order to pick up the journal and begin working. In other words, we would have "no blank pages" to begin our journey in collaging.

I loved the whole idea of creating pages with complete abandon by just layering tissue, images, old papers, in a "willy nilly" way. It was pure freedom.

No thinking.
No debating on what would go on the page. I call it my slap and glue technique. Claudine Hellmuth got "rich" off of me yesterday. No telling how much of her Studio MultiMedium Matte I used in this book.

I didn't care, just walked into the store and bought another little bottle!

I loved the way the front cover came along

and am now working on the "beading" which I don't necessarily know how to do. What is that saying, "Fake it till you Make it" ?

I was able to get so much accomplished yesterday because of three "buds" I have: Debby, Terri, and Elizabeth. I literally took a "stash of stuff" I have received from them in the mail. And used those items on these pages. I know which ones were sent by each of these incredible artists - my buds! That is one thing that is making this journal so special....

You know, Harley had a great time too. He loved it when Jane picked him up and showed his butt to the camera....

On second thought, I think he was trying to roll over or play dead so she would rub his tummy. He is such a little suck-up, no matter how much he protests to the contrary.....

As we go along on our collage journey, I will show you my pages as they progress. You know, I need to get Harley to help me unload all of the supplies we carted to Maryland! Here is the inside of the back cover...... boys and girls!

Hope you enjoy the rest of what is left of a Sunday here in the Honeysuckle Breeze. Just started raining, the humidity has been so thick today you could literally cut it with a knife. Ninety + and probably 100% humidity. And this is still the first of June.....

Lazing in the Honeysuckle Breeze this eve

Yes, it is true, I am lazing tonight and it feels cool! I have cut out images for the "left" side of the Asian pages in the Walls Notebook. I do love this book. Love the "back" statement on the book. Yesterday I gave you the link to Amazon on how you too can have your own walls to play and do with as you see fit.
Here are the images so far.... might add more, just don't know since I haven't started "building" the page,
On Saturday I am doing a workshop at The Queen's Ink in Savage, Maryland, by the author of this book, Collage Journeys is a fascinating book and I can't wait to meet Jane Davies. I will be taking a class called "Unbinding the Visual Journal" and we will be learning how to get over "The Blank Page" syndrome - I have that about every other day or especially, when a project ends! We are going to be making a visual journal that will involve creating random collages on unbound folios and then assembling them into a book. Gonna be fun - lasts all day! Woooo Hooooo. So tomorrow night I will be frantically getting my supply list together - last minute of course! I did stop at Angela's Happy Stamper at lunchtime today and picked up some Asian papers that might work in my pages on Saturday. The rub-ons are for the Walls Notebook page....

Tonight I am getting ready to go downstairs and read my latest purchase, The Green Craft magazine from Somerset. I have never looked at a copy before and am thinking it is going to be really good..... oh no.... another Stampington publication to get hooked on!

Have fun this evening! Gotta Go Read.... and hugs to all! xoxo

The Geisha's Wall

Blank Walls in the Walls Notebook - oh where do we go from here? Blank Walls in the neighborhood, Oh My, oh my. The image,

A little bit of this,
And a little bit of that including black feathers, oh my,

I used some of the background collage pieces from my little note pad from Red Horseshoe. Love their stuff. I used the back of the page. Every time I jot down notes, I do not throw the paper away, just turn it over and cut out images!

And the finished page,

Tonight since Team Tennis got rained out I will be working on the left side of the notebook. Have fun - I'm getting ready for Ghost Hunter's Academy! Wooooooo Hooooooo!
